About Me:
My name is Kevin and I was born in February in 1988 in Germany. I am the 5th member of the family. My parents, Raymond and April, had 3 sons. I was born in Germany because my father was in the United States Army. I spent the first two and half to three years of my life there. Then my father got stationed to Fort Stewart, GA. While he was stationed there we lived in lived in Hinesville, GA. We stayed there for a couple years. Then when I was 5 years old we moved to Cusseta, GA. so my parents could help take care of my grandmother.(on my moms side) I stared school in Cusseta, GA. at Chattahoochee County Education Center. Where I attended school from kindergarten to 8th grade My grandmother died in May of 1996, when I was 8 years old. I didn’t get to know her so much because I was so young, but I enjoyed every second I spent with her. I miss her a lot and wish she was still around to see how I turned out, but there’s life and there’s death. The next year my dad changed professions and became an over the road truck driver. He was only home one weekend a month for the longest time. Then when I was in the seventh grade my parents stated having problems in there marriage. Around this time my oldest brother Shaun moved out of the house. By the time I was in the eight grade they were divorced. At that time I started having a lot physical and mental problems, and it showed in school. I missed a total of 68 days of school that year. With all my problems, I didn’t like school at all and the teachers didn’t care for me either. I think they felt as if I gave up on school so they gave up on me. When I did show up in school and needed extra help with work a few teachers would help. I even had some refuse to help me. They told me that they didn’t feel they needed to help because I wouldn’t be there tomorrow. Plus I had other teachers tell me that I wasn't going to make it anywhere or succeed at anything in life. With everything happening at home and school I was just always depressed and pissed at everyone. As it showed at school it also showed at home. I’m glad my friend Todd was there to help me through everything. I was always arguing with my mother and brother Christopher. Eventually my mother decided that it would be better living with my father. Since he’s a truck driver it meant I had to live in the truck with him. He was in the middle of switching jobs. He was going from being a company driver to and owner operator So on the 4th of July weekend in 2002 my dad and I got on a Greyhound bus, and headed to Des Moines, IA. So he could start his new job. I spent the summer on the road with him. Then close to Labor Day I moved to Newburgh, NY. to live with my Grandmother. My dad wanted me to do this so I could have the normal life kids are suppose to have. He want me to be able to be around other people my age, and get a good education. Since I missed 68 days of school in the 8th grade in GA. and NY's Education system is higher than GA's, My dad had me repeat the eighth grade. I lasted for a while but not that long. I went back over the road with my dad a week or two before Thanksgiving that year. Since I was on the road I had to be home schooled. So my dad taught me through the rest of my eighth grade year. I love U.S. History since I got to see different things through out the U.S.A. Then during the summer time the next year I spent about a month with my mothers in GA. I was researching home school ideas for high school. I found a home school high school program that allows you to get your High School Diploma, instead of your G.E.D. Like Most home schooled students have to do. So I started that while on the road with my dad. In 2004 my dad started dating one of mine and my brothers friend's (Simon) moms (Teresa) and she moved into our house with 3 of her kids(Simon Stephanie and Benjamin). Shortly after she moved in I came off the road and moved back in to the house with them and Christopher. In March or 2004 I started my first job at Lee's Golden China in Columbus, GA. Chris was working there and they had someone walk out so he called and told me if I wanted a job to come up there and start that evening. Him and another employee Jason trained me. I worked there for almost two years working in different position from host to server but drive-thru and take-out was my primary position. I kept on with my schooling while working there and I graduates on the 3rd day of September, in 2005. I think its kind of funny that I was the kid that would never succeed at anything, but yet I graduated High school and was enrolled for college a year before I was suppose to graduate I also got my drivers license that same year in August. While working at Golden China I started looking for ideas for college. I thought about a lot of things, every thing from mechanic to electrician. I knew what ever it was I didn’t want to be behind a desk all day. I knew I wanted to go out and get my hands dirty. So I started thinking of different thing and remember a commercial on television while one the road. One night after we stopped I was laying in bed watching television and seen a commercial for Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts-Las Vegas I thought at the time that looks like a lot of fun so I started reading up about it. I also remembered when I was living in NY. my Uncle Dennis loved to cook and bake all night on his days off. I remembered how much he enjoyed doing it and I thought that I would love to do something that made me happy to go to work everyday. So I started practicing and noticed how much I loved it. I always wanted to help others too. So I figured what better way to do that than through there stomachs. So I apply and got excepted at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts-Atlanta After I got my diploma and drivers license I started looking for a new job to start saving up a little bit of money before I started college. So I started on a job hunt on my days off and then in the middle of September in 2005 I started working at Oliver Garden in Columbus, GA. where I met one of my best friends Stan I worked there till the middle of December of that year. Then I took a couple of weeks off to spend time with my fiancée before I went to College. I meet the love of my life on the 14th day of May in 2005. Lindsey and I meet online and started a long distance relationship over the internet and phone. Then in December she came to GA. from OR. for a two week visit. We got to know each other really well and I proposed on Christmas Eve and she decided to stay in GA. with me and She moved to Atlanta with me when I started college At the end of December we moved to Atlanta and I started College on the 9th day of January in 2006 While I was in school I was looking for a job it took me till March to get one. Its really had to find a job in that part of Atlanta with out a car. Thank God for student loans. By the way if you have a choose to work or get living loans. Work! With the interest rates and all it's a pain in the butt. But anyways in March I started working at the school as a student worker. I started by working in the bookstore/gift shop. After a couple months working in the bookstore a position opened up in maintenance after another student left school. I moved over there to work with my new boss and a good friend Sam. I loved both jobs but I enjoyed maintenance more because I love working with my hands and fixing things. I worked there through the rest of my schooling. In August of 2006 Lindsey moved back to OR. to be with her mother and grandfather who were both getting sick. I finished up my schooling part of my college education a couple weeks before Christmas 2006 All that was left was for me to graduate was to do a 3 month externship. Before my externship I flew out to OR. to spend 2 weeks before Christmas with Lindsey. Then I had a week to pack all my stuff up to move to Colorado Springs for my 3 month externship. I took a 2 day trip from Cusseta GA. to Colorado Springs CO. to start my externship at The Broadmoor Hotel and Resort. It is a 5 star 5 diamond Resort in CO. I worked there for my externship with a chance to sign on after but it was far away from everyone and everything I knew, plus there weren't offering the pay I needed to live in Colorado Springs. So with the completion of my externship I graduated college on the 31st day of March in 2007. I moved back to my dads house in Cusseta, GA. With-in a couple a week my friend from college Kyle got me a job working with him at The Marriott Hotel in Columbus, GA. I started there as a prep cook for about a month then moved to breakfast cook and banquet cook as needed when Kyle wasn’t around. Then Lindsey moved back to GA. a couple days before my graduation ceremony in June of 2007. In August Of 2007 I started Working at Central High School in Phenix City AL. as a Culinary Instructor for there Adult Education Program. I taught there 2 nights a week for 10 weeks. Lindsey moved back to OR in November, of 2007 because she was getting depressed and having a problem finding a job. I was also having a hard problem finding a job and was really missing Lindsey then I got the chance to move to OR so I took it. So I moved out to Medford, OR. in December of 2007 where I am today. Then started working in a fine dining restaurant as a "Sous Chef" in Jacksonville, OR. It really wasn’t a sous chef job it was a line cook job he just titled it sous chef because it was only 2 people in the kitchen. I worked there for two nights then there was a kitchen fire over night while no one was there so I was out of work for about a mouth It was a crazy job I was suppose to get faster but he only let me work the line on slow nights and complained that I wasn’t fast enough. All I got to do on fast nights was prep for dinner and do dishes. After we started back working it only lasted about a month because I stated having a lot of problems with my feet and knees. I’m the kind of guy who has to jump in the middle of a fast night and fail once or twice to learn the pace. I was born with tight heel cords and it has gotten worse over the years I've needed surgery to get my heel cords extended since I was young but the doctors didn't want to do it till my body was done growing. If they did it when I was younger I would of had to get it done again after my body grew. After I left that job I found another job at Harry and David working in there bakery and candy kitchen as a mixer. I enjoyed that job a lot and it got my foot in the door to possible get into research and development. But after two days of work My feet were killing me. I was barely able to walk for like 3 weeks. They laid me off do to medical. So that’s where I am today. I’m working on getting disability and trying to find a way to get surgery. There and organization here in town that is trying to help me get surgery, but I’m waiting to here back from them. I can only be on my feet like thirty to forty minutes a day. My foot problem has also messed up my sleeping habits. I pretty much have to find something to do till I'm falling asleep and then go crawl in bed. If not I just lay there restless for hours and cant sleep.
